The project
TGOOD Africa is proud to have supplied a TGP-40.5 gas-insulated switchboard (GIS) for the Teraco Sediba Solar Power Plant near Parys, Free State, South Africa. The equipment was delivered in partnership with Tractionel, and factory acceptance tests (FAT) were completed and signed off successfully, with the unit ready for shipment to site.
The 33 kV GIS switchboard forms a critical part of the plant’s 132 kV/33 kV step-down substation, providing reliable and efficient power evacuation from the solar arrays to the national grid.

About the Teraco Sediba PV Plant
The Sediba Solar Power Plant is a 120 MW utility-scale solar photovoltaic project located in the Free State province of South Africa, near the town of Parys. Owned entirely by Teraco—Africa’s largest carrier-neutral colocation and interconnection provider and a subsidiary of Digital Realty (NYSE: DLR)—the plant broke ground in November 2024 and is scheduled to come online in late 2026.
Teraco developed the plant in partnership with JUWI Renewable Energies South Africa, which is responsible for design, procurement, construction and commissioning, and South African solar developer Subsolar. When fully operational, the plant is expected to generate more than 354,000 MWh of clean electricity annually.
In what Teraco describes as a world first for data centre operators, the company will own its own large-scale generation source and wheel the renewable energy directly to its data centres—located in Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg—via Eskom’s transmission network and municipal power systems. This bypasses traditional fossil-fuel sources, enabling Teraco to build a sustainable energy loop in support of its goal to reach 100% renewable energy by 2035.
South Africa’s grid has faced significant capacity constraints in recent years, making investment in new generation and transmission infrastructure especially important. The Sediba project also requires Teraco to co-fund upgrades to Eskom’s transmission infrastructure in the region, further strengthening the grid for the broader community.
