This week, our subsidiary, TGOOD Africa, is celebrating the completion of the Fleurhof pre-fabricated substation project. Together with LEBOHANG CONSULTING ENGINEERS, Bamboo Rock and CALGRO M3 HOLDINGS this project was executed for Joburg CityPower in South Africa. ⚡
The Fleurhof Project is a 440-hectare mixed housing 🏘️ development with 30,000 housing units in the City of Johannesburg. In 2020 TGOOD Africa was given the green light to proceed with the design, manufacturing and supply of MV and HV switchgear installed in prefabricated ehouse buildings for the Fleurhof substation in the area.

The TGOOD prefabricated compact substation reduces constructions times by 3-6 months, and uses 20-30% less space than required by a traditional substation. Driven by our strict solution focus, and being able to take full advantage of our modular design concept, TGOOD are able to respond with maximum flexibility to clients’ preferences.
For Fleurhof, TGOOD Africa implemented the following:
⚡Seven bays of 145kV high voltage gas-inslated switchgear
⚡Forty 11kV medium voltage switchgear panels
⚡ Two rectifier and battery systems
⚡Protection and control system for HV switchgear, MV switchgear, battery system, communication panel, telemetry and quality of supply panel
⚡Prefabricated electrical houses to house all switchgear and protection equipment
⚡Fire detection
⚡Access control
⚡CCTV and intrusion system
⚡Supervision with installation and commissioning of the equipment
On November 2023 the substation was energised and handed over to Joburg CitiPower. The Fleurhof Substation is the largest prefabricated utility substation in Africa and it sits amongst the over 100,000 TGOOD-branded prefabricated substations that have been successfully installed since 2004.
