TGOOD Africa is proud to have contributed to the successful implementation of the 77.4MWp Lephalale Solar Project (P230259), developed by Cennergi, a wholly owned subsidiary of Exxaro Resources Limited, and executed in partnership with El Sewedy Electric.
This project marks a significant milestone in South Africa’s energy transition and Exxaro’s broader decarbonisation strategy. The Lephalale Solar Project will supply clean, sustainable power directly to the Grootegeluk Complex (GGC) – one of Exxaro’s key mining operations – under a long-term power purchase agreement. This ensures greater energy security, significant cost savings, and a reduced carbon footprint for the operation, positioning Exxaro as a leader in environmentally responsible mining.
The project forms part of Exxaro’s Just Transition strategy and demonstrates its commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals. It also supports the company’s mission of Powering a Clean World, with tailored renewable energy solutions currently being explored for other Exxaro mining sites and third-party operations.
As part of our contribution to this transformative project, TGOOD Africa supplied and delivered:
13 x 33kV double bus MV gas insulated switchgear (GIS) units with onboard protection, ensuring safe, reliable and efficient power distribution for the solar plant.
We are honoured to be part of a project that aligns so closely with our own values and vision for a sustainable energy future. Congratulations to all project stakeholders for making this vision a reality. Together, we’re building a cleaner, smarter South Africa.
